Welcome from Director Stacy Guerrero

Hello, my name is Stacy Guerrero, director of Children’s Ministry (birth through sixth grade). We value children and it is our desire to partner with you in the Christian formation and spiritual development of your children.

The Bible makes it quite clear that children are uniquely special to God. George Barna, director of the Barna Research Group, a well known and respected research firm in Christian ministries has shown that “a person’s response to the meaning and personal value of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection is usually determined before a person reaches eighteen. In fact, a majority of Americans make a lasting determination about the personal significance of Christ’s death and resurrection by age 12.” Additionally, Barna tells us that the “spiritual condition of adolescents and teenagers changes very little, if at all as they age.”  I take this information from Barna very seriously knowing that what we do in Children’s Ministry each week puts children’s lives at stake – their eternal life!

Your Children’s Ministry staff believes that there are 3 things that will help ensure that children will continue in a life-long relationship with God and the church.

 1) The ability to truly and authentically worship God - The glue that sticks kids to Christ, uninterrupted for life, is worshipping God.  Authentically worshipping God comes from truly knowing who God is.

 2) Developing relationships with adult mentors while learning about God – Children are led to Christ through relationships with adult mentors who show and model Christ's love and grace.

3) Friendships with Christian peers –Children come to church, especially in the teen years, because of “who else will be there”. We need to develop these relationships now so they stay connected through the teen years.

We strive to reflect these values whether your child comes on a Sunday morning, a Wednesday evening or to any of our special events. We are committed to providing a safe environment where your children can engage in fun activities where they can learn to know God, develop caring relationships with adult mentors, meet new friends and strengthen relationships in a Christian way. We help them experience the stories of the Bible in a way that is relevant to their young lives.

I welcome your feedback! If you have questions, concerns or ideas you would like to share with me please feel free to contact me via phone 816-524-4966 (ext. 24) or email anytime.

Our Children's Ministry exists to energize children to be a fuse for God’s love (outreach), to connect with other Christians (fellowship), to plug in to the Word (discipleship), to illuminate God (worship), and to be a transformer in ministry (service). We have designed each program in our ministry to fulfill at least one of these biblical purposes.
