Nicaragua Mission Trips
Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the world. The population of more than 5 million has a median age of only 20.4 due to hunger and disease. LSUMC began providing relief to this country in 2007 by building 28 new homes for the impoverished residents of this country. Contact the church office at 816-524-4966 to find out how you can participate as a member of a mission team or by donating needed supplies. Learn more about this effort at www.pjhope.org.
UMCOR: United Methodist Committee on Relief
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (www.umcor.org) is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the U.S, with a mission of alleviating human suffering-whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people. To find out more about UMCOR's ministries, visit www.umcor.org.
Mozambique Initiative
The Mozambique Initiative is a Missouri Conference ministry that partners churches, groups and individuals of the UMC in Missouri with congregations and districts of The United Methodist Church in Mozambique. These partnerships strengthen the church in Mozambique and are the backbone of Missouri's mission and ministry. The covenants have literally saved lives by putting food on the table and building shelter for pastor families. In addition, The Initiative provides many other opportunities for ministry, like leadership development, assisting retired pastors, drilling wells and supporting health care.
Hurricane Relief Efforts
Our church has responded to Hurricane Katrina's devastating destruction by sending numerous groups to New Orleans to help those ravaged by the storm. No particular skills are required, just a willing heart and servant spirit. Contact Pastor Jim Hoffman at 816-524-4966 for details about the next scheduled trip.
