Our Church

Lee's Summit United Methodist Church has a rich history of serving the Lee's Summit community for more than 140 years.

In the past few years, LSUMC has experienced 52% growth in worship attendance and 60% growth in giving to the general budget.  Today, the church is best known for the quality of its music, preaching, worship and programs.

Our average attendance is approximately 1100 in weekend worship. Growth of our church necessitated the renovation of a Worship Center for contemporary services. Our ministry has outgrown our current 3.38 acre site, therefore, the church purchased 39+ acres at the corner of View High and Chipman Roads in Lee's Summit to serve as our future home with a 1000-seat sanctuary. This new location will allow us to accommodate growth and continue to reach out the growing community.

LSUMC is one of five UM churches serving the community. Our sister churches are Aldersgate UMC, Grace UMC, Woods Chapel UMC and Lake Lotawana UMC.

Avenues of community outreach include a partnership with Lee's Summit Elementary School; support of Lee's Summit Social Services; and a strong commitment to ministries of Westport UMC and reStart, a homeless shelter in downtown Kansas City. Internationally, the church has provided in excess of $50,000 to build much-needed water wells in Mozambique, new homes for impoverished residents of Nicaragua and ongoing support of UM World Missions. In addition, our church sends teams of volunteers to assist in hurricane relief and catastrophic recovery throughout our nation. Both adults and youth remain involved in international and national mission efforts as well as community outreach.
